Kizb (Lies) is such an evil, that people belonging to every religion speak out against it. It is forbidden in every religion. Islam has placed great emphasis regarding abstaining from this. It has been condemned in numerous places in the Holy Qur'an, and the curse of Allah is upon those who tell lies. The evils of (lies) have also been mentioned in the Hadith Sharif. With regards to this, a few Ahadith are being presented.

Hadith 1: It is in Sahih Bukhari and Muslim from Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) says,

"Make honesty essential (upon you), since truthfulness leads to good deeds and good deeds lead one towards the corridors of Jannat (Paradise). A man continuously speaks the truth and he continues to strive to be truthful, until by Allah, he is recorded as being a Siddique (Honest Person). Abstain from lies, for lies leads to corruption and corruption leads to the alleyway of hell, and man continuously tells lies and goes all-out to lie, until by Allah, he is recorded as being a Kazzab (Liar)". [Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Birr, Page 1405, Hadith 105/2607]

Hadith 2: It is in Tirmidhi from Hadrat Anas (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,

"The person who leaves telling lies, and it is futile (i.e. lies is something that one should leave), then a house will be erected for him on the perimeters of Jannat and whosoever abstains from disputing (quarrelling) even though he is on the truth, then a house will be erected for him in the middle of Jannat, and whosoever adorned himself with good character, then for him, a house will be erected in the elevated level of Jannat". [Jaami' Tirmidhi, Kitab al-Birr, Vol. 3, Page 400, Hadith 2000]

Hadith 3: It is in Tirmidhi from Ibn Umar (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,

"When a person tells lies, then through its foul odour, the Angels stay a mile away from him". [Jaami' Tirmidhi, Kitab al-Birr, Vol. 3, Page 392, Hadith 1979]

Hadith 4: Abu Dawud reported from Sufyan bin Usayd Hadrami (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) He says I heard Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) saying,

"To say something which is a lie to your Muslim brother, whereas he believes you to be telling the truth, is from amongst the things which are regarded as a breach of trust." [Sunan Abu Dawud, Kitab al-Adab, Vol. 4, Page 381, Hadith 4971]

Hadith 5: Imam Ahmad and Bayhaqi have reported from Abu Umaama (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,

"The nature of a Muslim can consist of all traits, except distrustfulness and lies." In other words, both these things are contrary to Imaan. It is very important for a Momin (true believer) to stay away from these (traits). [Musnad Imam Ahmad, Vol. 8, Page 276, Hadith 22232]

https://scontent-cdg.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/1965017_10152002232100334_250860441_n.jpg?oh=887fdc14bbfde98735b3c11c1eebc235&oe=55721F91

Hadith 6: Imam Maalik and Bayhaqi have reported from Safwaan bin Sulaym that the Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) was asked,

"Can a believer be a coward?" He (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said, "Yes". It was then asked, "Can a believer be a miser?" He (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) replied, "Yes." He (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) was asked, "Can a believer be a liar?" He (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said, "No." [Muwatta Imam Maalik, Kitab al-Kalaam, Vol. 2, Page 468, Hadith 1913]

Hadith 7: Imam Ahmad reported from Hadrat Abu Bakr (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,

"Abstain from lies, since (telling a) lie is contrary to Imaan." [Musnad Imam Ahmad, Vol. 1, Page 16, Hadith 22]

Hadith 8: Imam Ahmad reported from Abu Hurayrah (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,

"A servant does not become a true believer unless he abstains from telling lies even when he is being humorous, and (unless) he does not abstain from quarrelling, even though he may be right". [Musnad Imam Ahmad, Vol. 3, Page 268, Hadith 8638]

Hadith 9: Imam Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud and Daarimi have reported on the authority of Bahz bin Hakeem, from his father, who narrated from his grandfather that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,

"May he be devastated, who speaks and whilst doing so lies to amuse people (causing them to laugh). For him there is devastation! For him there is devastation!" [Jaami' Tirmidhi, Kitab az-Zuhd, Vol. 4, Page 142, Hadith 2322]

Hadith 10: Bayhaqi reported from Abu Hurayrah (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,

"A person, who speaks only so that he could amuse people, falls into hell at depth which is greater than the distance between the sky and the earth. The amount of errors that are caused by the tongue, are far more than the errors caused by the foot". [Shu'ab al-Iman, Vol. 4, Page 213, Hadith 4832]

Hadith 11: Abu Dawud and Bayhaqi reported from Abdullah Ibn Aamir (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) who says "Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) was present in our home and my mother summoned me, (by saying), "Come, I will give you (something)". He (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said, "what do you intend giving him?" She said, "Dates". He (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,

"If you would not have given (him) anything, you would have been accountable for a lie being recorded for you." [Sunan Abu Dawud, Kitab al-Adab, Vol. 4, Page 387, Hadith 4991]

Hadith 12: Bayhaqi reported from Abu Burza (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,

"Telling lies causes the face to become black (dark) and tale bearing causes torment in the grave." [Shu'ab al-Iman, Vol. 4, Page 208, Hadith 4813]

Hadith 13: It is in Sahih Bukhari and Muslim from Umm-e-Kulthum (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha) that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,

"That person is not a liar, who brings peace between people, says good things, and delivers good words". In other words, he says good things on behalf of one person to another, even though that person did not say it. For example (he says), he has conveyed Salaam to you and he speaks highly of you. [Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Birr, Page 1404, Hadith 101/2605]

Hadith 14: Tirmidhi reported from Asma bint Yazid (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha) that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,

"Lies is not correct (appropriate) except in three situations: (1) A man says something to please his wife; (2) to lie in a dispute; and (3) to lie with the intention of bringing peace between people". [Jaami' Tirmidhi, Kitab al-Birr, Vol. 3, Page 377, Hadith 1945]

Hadith 15: It is in Sahih Bukhari from Abdullah Ibn Umar (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) says,

"There are four signs of a hypocrite and if someone possess one of them he has one sign of hypocrisy (until he abandons it): (1) Betrayal when trusted with something (amaanat), (2) Lying whilst speaking, (3) Breaking promises, (4) Swearing when involved in an argument." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 1, Page 17, Hadith 34]

Follow the Sunnah | Wearing the Turban (Imamah Sharif)

https://scontent-mxp.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/407954_10150500587110334_2135819897_n.jpg?oh=f78bd302d9fe1f1462f66d1a49b600a9&oe=554BFC01
To tie (wear) the Imamah (Turban) is Sunnah, especially during Salah, since the reward for the Salah that is read whilst wearing a turban is much more. A few Ahadith are being presented here regarding the virtues and excellence of wearing the turban:

https://scontent-mxp.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/s720x720/545146_10151181684440334_1556635548_n.jpg?oh=0410e1c3cc4bfa7b59e6f16420f86818&oe=5593B672

1. Two Rak'ats of Salah performed whilst wearing an Imamah are better than offering Seventy Rak'ats without wearing Imamah. [Daylami, Firdaus bima' Saur al-Khattab, Vol. 2, Page 265, Hadith 3233]

2. Adopt the tying (wearing) of the Imaama (Turban), for it is the sign of the Angels, and allow it (i.e. the Shimlah) to hang at the back. [Shu'ab al-Iman, Vol. 5, Page 176, Hadith 6262]

3. The distinction between us and the mushriks (polytheists) is that our turbans are worn (tied) on (top of our) hats. [Tirmidhi, Vol. 3, Page 305, Hadith 1791]

4. Wearing an Imamah over a headgear is the difference between us and the Mushrikin [Idol-worshippers]. For every fold of the Imamah that a Muslim wraps around his head, he will be given one Noor on the Day of Judgement. [Suyuti, Al-Jami' as-Saghir, Page 353, Hadith 5725]

https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/11009223_10152647364855334_2052844949125025800_n.jpg?oh=15cff38bfe9cc98bdef7a8f47862b46b&oe=5552147F&__gda__=1431589993_08e3c756214b50ae7d34577e22e4af7f

5. My nation will remain steadfast on truth as long as they tie turbans on hats. [Daylami, Musnad Al-Firdows, Vol. 3, Page88, Hadith 4247]

6. Indeed Allah sent Angels wearing these turbans to support me in (the battles of) Badar and Hunayn. Verily, turbans differentiate between Kufr (infidelity) and Iman (faith). [Bayhaqi, Sunan al-Kubra, Vol. 10, Page 14, Hadith 18163]

7. Imamahs are the crowns of the Arabs, so wear the Imamah and your honour will augment. Whoever wears an Imamah; he gains one virtue for every fold . [Jam' al-Jawami', Vol. 5, Page 202, Hadith 14536]

8. Tie the turban, your tolerance will increase. [Al-Mustadrak ala al-Sahihayn lil-Hakim, Vol. 5, Page 272, Hadith 7488]

9. Offering Salah whilst wearing an Imamah is equivalent to 10,000 virtues. [Daylami, Firdaus bima' Saur al-Khattab, Vol. 2, Page 406, Hadith 3805]

https://scontent-mxp.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11015196_10152647365490334_4677920434888797482_n.jpg?oh=cc438497faf5efbe6b90d513d1e92c55&oe=5584FF10

10. Indeed, Allah and His angels send Salat upon those who wear Imamah (turban) on Friday. [Majma' al-Zawaid, Vol. 2, Page 394, Hadith 3075]

11. One Salat al-Jumu'ah performed whilst wearing an Imamah is equivalent to 70 without it. [Ibn Asakir, Tarikh Madinah Dimishq, Vol. 37, Page 355]

12. AlaHadrat Mawlana Shah Imam Ahmad Rida Khan (Alayhir Rahmah) has stated:

"The grandson of Sayyiduna Umar Farooq-e-Azam (Radi Allahu Anhu), Sayyiduna Saalim (Radi Allahu Anhu) said, "I came to my father Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) who was tying the turban. Having tied his turban, he (Radi Allahu Anhu) looked at me and asked, "Do you like to wear turban?" I replied, "Why not!" Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) said, "Adopt the Sunnah of wearing turban, you will gain respect and when Satan sees you in turban, he will turn his back. I heard the Rasool of Allah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) say, "Offering one Salah with a turban is equivalent to offering twenty-five without turban, and one Jumu'ah with turban is equivalent to seventy without turban." Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) then said, "Oh son! Wear the turban because the angels tie the turban on Friday and send peace until sunset upon those who wear turban." [Fatawa Radawiyyah, Vol. 6, Page 215]

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/10987302_10152647365105334_542608499211006661_n.jpg?oh=7d7d97868be0bee521734dc91e7edb8a&oe=559361F5&__gda__=1431361994_0fdc9e99e31373d25bfc2f40349921ce

Important Notes:

1. Tie the Imamah whilst standing, and put on the Pajamah [Shalwar, lower garment] whilst sitting. Whoever does the opposite of this (i.e. he ties the Imamah whilst sitting, and puts on the lower garment whilst standing); he will be afflicted with a disease, for which there is no cure. [Bahar-e-Shariat, Part 16, Page 303]

2. Bind the Imamah whilst standing facing the Qiblah. [Kashf al-Iltibas fi Istihbab al-Libas lil Shaykh Abd-ul-Haq Dehlawi, Page 38]

3. It is more appropriate to wrap the first fold of the Imamah towards the right side of the head. [Fatawa Radawiyyah, Vol. 22, Page 199]

4. When one ties a turban, then the Shimlah (tail) should hang on the back, between both shoulders. There is a difference of opinion regarding the length of the Shimlah. However, the maximum length should be such, that when one sits, it is not pressed (under you). [Fatawa Alamgiri, Vol. 5, Page 330]

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/v/t1.0-9/10440276_10152647364445334_5112687070471170548_n.jpg?oh=ec91e551ca25bd460e449cd673b76a58&oe=5548EC1D&__gda__=1435055432_6b62c7de67c915003bab2f835a23bfed

5. Some people do not hang a Shimlah at all. This is contrary to the Sunnah. There are some who bring it to the top and then tuck it into the turban. This too should not be done, especially in the condition of Salah, as it would be Makruh. [Bahar-e-Shariat, Part 16, Page 418]

6. The Shimlah (i.e. unwrapped end of the turban) of the blessed Imamah of the Beloved and Blessed Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) would generally hang behind his blessed back, sometimes it would be on the right hand side, and sometimes there would be two Shimlahs between his two blessed shoulders. To keep the Shimlah on the left hand side is against the Sunnah. [Ash'ah al-Lam'aat, Vol. 3, Page 582]

7. The length of the Shimlah of the Imamah should be at least the width of four fingers, and at most up to the middle of the back, i.e. approximately the length of one arm. [Fatawa Radawiyyah, Vol. 22, Page 182]

8. When one wishes specifically to re-tie the turban, then it should not be removed and thrown onto the ground, but it should be unwrapped in the manner in which it was tied. [Fatawa Alamgiri, Vol. 5, Page 330]

9. The Holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) used to wear a white topi touching his head under his blessed turban. [Madarij an-Nubuwwah, Vol. 1, Page 471]

https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/v/t1.0-9/10437349_10152647366105334_7315827225595937209_n.jpg?oh=a2eda5a238ebe18b2b8c99c4aa93309e&oe=55557438&__gda__=1431423085_17637aa4bc645cb5dc0f220d2657beba

10. Even though it is proven that Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) wore a topi but the beloved Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) also used to wear an Amaama (Turban). In other words, under the turban, he used to wear a topi, and He said that the difference between unbelievers and us is the tying of the turban on a topi. In other words, we keep both these things and they only tie the turban. They do not wear a topi under their turbans. Hence, even when the kuffaar here wear the turban, they do not wear a topi underneath it. Some have explained this Hadith to mean that wearing only the topi is the manner of the mushrikeen (polytheists), but this assertion is incorrect, because even the mushrikeen of Arabia used to tie turbans. It is clearly mentioned in Mirkaat, the annotation of Mishkaat that the small size turban of the beloved Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) was of seven hands in length and the large size turban was of twelve hands in length. In short, the turban should be kept according to this Sunnah (in length). It should not exceed this in length. Some people wear huge (i.e. long) turbans. This should not be done as it is contrary to the Sunnah. In Maarwar (a place in India), many people there tie turbans that are not very wide, but are forty and fifty yards in length. Muslims should not tie turbans like these. [Bahar-e-Shariat, Part 16, Page 419]

11. One should tie it giving a shape like that of a dome. What we now see in Arabia is not Sunnah but it is called I'tijaar, meaning tying the turban round the head and keeping the middle part open. The scholars have deem I'itijaar as Makruh. [Fatawa Radawiyyah, Vol. 22, Page 186-187]

12. I'tijaar, in other words to tie the turban in such a manner that it is not on the head in the middle, is Makruh-e-Tahreemi. To tie an Imamah in this way, even out of Salah is Makruh. [Bahar-e-Shariat, Part 3, Page 372]

13. I'tijaar is to tie the Imamah and leaving the hat (topi) uncovered. [Waqar al-Fatawa, Vol. 2, Page 248 | Fatawa Bahr al-Uloom, Page 106-107]

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/10801895_10152647366890334_2578865542324396598_n.jpg?oh=75f56caaafcd553e4e631a8ee971ad75&oe=5558136E&__gda__=1431555089_2846cf7835fa1e06d4e0fe27ab004715

14. If you have a large kerchief with which you can produce enough folds to cover the whole head, then it will be considered as an Imamah. It is Makruh to bind a small kerchief with which one can only produce one or two folds. [Fatawa Radawiyyah, Vol. 7, Page 299]

15. If Imamah is to be taken off out of some need and there is intention to bind it again, then one sin will be effaced on unwinding each fold. [Fatawa Radawiyyah, Vol. 6, Page 214]

16. The blessed Imamah of the Holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) was often white, sometimes black and sometimes green. [Kashf al-Iltibas fi Istihbab al-Libas lil Shaykh Abd-ul-Haq Dehlawi, Page 38]

17. Acting upon the auspicious Sunnah of the Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) i.e. tying the turban relieves one from severe depression and fortifies the capability of endurance. According to the latest scientific research, the fortunate Muslim who adorns an Imamah on a regular basis will remain secured from stroke and various blood-related illnesses. This is because, with the blessings of adorning the Imamah Sharif, the pressure of the blood in the large blood vessels leading towards the brain remains in accordance with its requirement, and so surplus blood is not transported to the brain! Hence, in America, an Imamah-like mask has now been designed for the treatment of stroke.

Permissibility of Celebrating the Mawlid from the Holy Quran and Ahadith

Permissibility of Celebrating Mawlid
from Qur'an al-Karim & Ahadith!!

https://scontent-b-mxp.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/s720x720/419876_10150500545790334_448403389_n.jpg?oh=5d89e8f84bbeafeab9a14b1ebee19cdb&oe=55034848

All Praises is due to Almighty Allah, Peace and Blessings be upon the most perfect of creations, His Beloved Habib, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) and his Noble Family and the Illustrious Sahaba and all the pious servants of Almighty Allah!!

In the present era, we are suffering from sects and so-called scholars who baselessly impose verdicts of Shirk and Bid'ah on those who celebrate Mawlid an-Nabi (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) with great enthusiasm and integrity and due to which the gullible and simple people, who are less in knowledge of Quran and Hadith get nervous whether they are following the right path or not.

Here are ample proofs from Qur'an al-Kareem and Ahadith of Beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) which shows beyond a shadow of a doubt that Celebrating Milad-un-Nabi (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) is absolutely lawful and commendable.

..:: The Holy Qur'an Says ::..

Eisa, the son of Maryam, said, "O Allah, O our Lord! Send down to us a table spread from heaven, so that it may become a day of celebration for us – for our former and latter people - and a sign from You; and give us sustenance - and You are the Best Provider Of Sustenance." [Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 114]

The day when food is sent from skies is day of rejoicing (EID); then the day when soul of universe (Peace be with him) was born must be the delight for the day of rejoicing.

Look what Allah has said:

وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ
And abundantly proclaim the favours of your Lord. [Surah Al-Duha, Verse 11]

Allah Himself commemorating Milad in Holy Qar'an as we do in our gatherings, Allah (SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala) says in the Holy Qur'an:

هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَكَفَى بِاللهِ شَهِيدًا
It is He Who has sent His Noble Messenger with the guidance and the true religion, in order to make it prevail over all other religions; and Allah is sufficient as a Witness. [Surah Al-Fatha, Verse 28]

And remember when Eisa the son of Maryam said, "O Descendants of Israel! Indeed I am Allah's Noble Messenger towards you, confirming the Book Torah which was before me, and heralding glad tidings of the Noble Messenger who will come after me – his name is Ahmed (the Praised One)"; so when Ahmed came to them with clear proofs, they said, "This is an obvious magic." [Surah As-Saf, Verse 6]

Indeed there has come to you a Noble Messenger from among you - your falling into hardship aggrieves him, most concerned for your well being, for the Muslims most compassionate, most merciful. [Surah Tauba, Verse 128]

Allah has indeed bestowed a great favour upon the Muslims, in that He sent to them a Noble Messenger (Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him) from among them, who recites to them His verses, and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and wisdom; and before it, they were definitely in open error. [Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse 164]

O mankind! The advice has come to you from your Lord and a cure for the hearts - and guidance and mercy for believers. Say, "Upon Allah's munificence and upon His mercy - upon these should the people rejoice"; that is better than all their wealth and possessions. [Surah Al-Yunus, Verse 57/58]

And this is what we do, we celebrate; we rejoice; we do spend our money to show gratitude to Allah Almighty on his greatest mercy and Blessing i.e. celebrations of Milad-un-Nabi (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) because Qur'an Says:

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ
And We did not send you (O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him) except as a mercy for the entire world. [Surah Al-Anbiya, Verse 107]

Let us have the opinions of Prophet (Peace be with him) who himself celebrated his Birthday. See Muslim Sharif:

Abi Qatada Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah's Messenger (may Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) was asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he said: It is (the day) when I was born and revelation was sent down to me.

When beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings be Upon him) is commemorating his birthday not yearly but every Monday then how can it be labelled as Shirk or Bid'ah? Is it not a Sunnah of the Beloved Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam)?

Beloved Prophet Muhammad SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam himself commemorated about his birth in numerous Ahadith. Few of them are presented below.

Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) said: "When my mother gave birth to me she saw a light proceeding from her which showed her the castles of Syria"

"I was a Noor (Light) by my creator 14000 years before the creation of Hadrat Adam (Alaihis Salaam)"

Pupil of Imam Malik and the teacher of Imam Ahmed Bin Hanbal and Hafizul Hadith Abdul Razzak Abu Bakr Bin Hamman, the teacher of the teachers of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, in his Book "Musannaf", has narrated from Hadrat Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari and his son (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhum), that he asked the Holy Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him)

O Prophet of Allah! My parents be sacrificed upon you, what did the Almighty Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala first create?" The Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) replied: "Allah first created my Noor (Light) of His Noor. This Noor traveled about according to the Will of Allah. At that time, there was no Heaven, Hell, Lawh (Divine Tablet), Pen, Earth, Skies, Sun, Moon, Jinn or Human Beings. When He decided to create, He divided that Noor into four parts. From one part He created the Pen, from the second, the Lawh and from the third, he made the Arsh (Throne). He divided the fourth part into a further four parts. From one, He created those Angels who carry the Arsh, from the second, the Kursi (Divine Chair) and from the third, He created the Angels. He again divided the remaining parts into a further four parts. From one, He created the skies. The second was used in creating the planets. From the third, Heaven and Earth were created. Once again, He divided the fourth part into a further four parts. From one part He created the power with which the believers see. From the second, He created in the hearts of the Believers the Noor of Marifat. From the third, He created Noor in the tongues of the Believers, so that they can read the Kalima of Tawheed.

Abu Lahab was an uncle to the Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam). The event, which Imaam Qastalaani has referred to, is this. When a maid of Abu Lahab (Abdul 'Uzza) named Thuwaibah informed him of a son being born to his brother Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), he (Abu Lahab) was so delighted at herring this that he pointed his finger to her in a manner which signified her emancipation for carrying the good news to him But when the holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) declared his Prophet hood, he (Abu Lahab) did not accept him as a Prophet but became a most severe enemy to him and remained so all his life. In condemnation of him a whole Surah of the Holy Qur'an descended.

After his death, people of Abu Lahab's household saw him in a dream, and asked him how he had fared. To this, Abu Lahab said that after departing from them he did not meet with any good but was being given water every Monday from the finger with which he had indicated the emancipation of Thuwaibah, and this water lessened his torment.

Allama Muhammad Bin Alawai al-Maliki have stated in his work, Houl al-Ihtifal bi Zikri Mawlid an-Nabawi Ash-Sharif:

Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam after announcing his prophet hood, did his Aqeeqa, not only this, he also stood on his mim'ber sharif (pulpit) and recited his Shajrah (Ancestral Tree), commemorated the birth of Hadrat Adam and Status of Hadrat Ibrahim, Hadrat Esa, Hadrat Moosa Alaihimus Salam. He ordered few of his companions to recite his praise; Many of the Companions offered poems in the prominence and praise of Syyiduna Rasoolullah, He was delighted hearing this and prayed for his companions. Imam Ahmed Rida Khan [d. 1340h/1921 CE] was a champion of the Sunni World in the twentieth century as he defended the belief system of Sunni Muslims and rejected the false and deviant ways head on with support from the greatest Ulama worldwide.

He restored the deen to its original state in India when falsehood was being mixed with the truth and people were confused about Sunni beliefs and practices. Such a person is known as a "Mujaddid".

Hadrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said:

"There will always be in my Ummah a group who safeguard the truth until Qiyamah comes" [Hakim's Mustadrak]

Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates the Noble Prophet (upon him peace and blessings) said:

"Allah shall send for this Ummah at the head of every hundred years a person who shall revive their Deen for them"

Family History

Imam Ahmed Rida son of Mufti Naqi 'Ali son of Mufti Muhammad Rida. He was born in a scholarly family on the 10th of Shawwal (1856 CE) in Bareilly, India.

His forefathers were originally from Kandahar, Afghanistan, and migrated to and settled in India.

Studies & Discipleship

Imam Ahmed Rida studied twenty one traditional Islamic sciences under his father, and mastered over fifty traditional sciences most of which were poured into his heart from Allah Almighty as he mentioned in al-Ijaazat al-Mateenah.

He wrote his first ever fatwa on 14th Sha'ban 1286h on an issue of fostering (when he was only 13 years, 10 months and 4 days old!)

Imam Ahmed Rida took his spiritual pledge (bay'ah/ahd) and received khilafah in various Sufi pathways from his spiritual teacher , Sayyid Shah Aal-e-Rasul Ahmadi from Marehrah, India, in 1296H.

Travels to Hajj

First Hajj: In 1295h (1878 CE), at the age of 22, the great Imam traveled to perform Hajj with his father where he received Ijazahs (licenses to teach) in the traditional sciences from the great scholars of Makkah such as Sayyid Ahmad Zayni Dahlan and Mufti Abdullah bin Abd ar-Rahman Siraaj.

Event: It is narrated that Imam Ahmed Rida was near Maqam Ibrahim after Maghrib salah one evening that the Shafi'I Imam of Masjid al-Haraam Shaykh Salih Jamal al-Layl Makki (d.1320h/1884) greeted him and said: "I swear by Allah, I can see the light of Allah shine in your forehead" and presented Ijazahs to him.

Second Hajj: In 1323h (1950 CE), Imam Ahmed Rida travelled to the Two Holy sanctuaries for the second time in company of his brother, Mawlana Hassan Raza Khan and son, Mawlana Hamid Raza Khan.

Event: He wrote a book called "Al-Dawlah al-Makkiyyah" in Arabic in this journey in just over eight hours without using any books on a question proposed to him by the Sharif of Makkah on the Noble Prophet 's (may Allah give him peace and blessings) knowledge of the unseen (ilm al-gayb). This work received a tremendous acceptance in its recital gathering in the presence of the Sharif which was attended by the prominent scholars of the time.

In the same journey, he had numerous meetings of knowledge and circles with the great Ulama who were either teaching, living or traveling in Hijaz. He produced a number of books in Arabic due to these sittings and circles, among them are:

Hussam al-Haramayn (Sword of the Two Holy Sanctuaries on the throat of disbelief and falsehood) – his famous work in defence of the Sunni beliefs and refutation of deviant groups that had blasphemed Allah and His Messenger.

Al-Ijaazat al-Mateenah – His licenses to the scholars of Makkah and Madinah and letters to them

Kiflul Faqih – Fatwa on the legal status of the bank note in Islamic law

All three of the above mentioned books made Imam Ahmed Rida very popular in the holy lands of Hijaz, Syria and Yemen.

What his contemporary Arab scholars said about Him?

Major scholars of Makkah and Madinah praised him lavishly for his knowledge and piety. He was called:

"The absolute Shaykh of all teachers" by Shaykh Ismail Makki, Libarian of Makkah Haram Library

"The encyclopaedia of all sciences" by Shaykh 'Ali bin Hassan Maliki, Mufti of Makkah city

"A giant Imam and well learned man who is an expert in the sciences" by Shaykh Yusuf Nabhani, Mujaddid of Sham & Mufti of Lebanon.

His Principles (Manhaj)

1. Love of Allah and His Messenger is before anything & everything

He said "If my heart was ever divided into two parts, one of them would have written on it "laa ilaaha illAllah" and on the other "Muhammadur Rasulullah"!!

2. Defending the Honour of the Noble Messenger (upon him peace & blessings)

He did not tolerate blasphemy (disrespect) of the Noble Messenger or of the pious companions or Awliya and stood strongly against the corrupted groups of his time for this reason.

3. Education and transmission of authentic knowledge

He was a dedicated teacher and some of the greatest Ulama of India were his students, among them are:
  • His two sons, Hujjatul Islam (Proof of Islam) Hamid Rida Khan & Mufti-e-Azam Hind (the grand Mufti of India), Mustafa Rida Khan
  • Sadrus Shariah (Front line scholar of Islamic Law): Amjad Ali al-A'zami
  • Malik al-Ulema (King of the Ulama): Zafaruddin Bihari
  • Sayyid Muhammad Muhadith-e-Kachouchwi
  • Qutb-e-Madina: Ziya'uddin Ahmad al-Madani & others
4. Self-Purification

He followed the spiritual path (tariqa) of Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani and loved all the Sufiya (Awliya). He made thousands repent from sins in his gatherings  and his entire life was spent purifying hearts and summoning people to Allah Almighty

5. Praise of the Messenger through writing and poems

His Durood-o-Salam is recited all over the world after Jum'ua and at the ends of religious events in mosques and homes like the Qasidah Burdah. His most famous book of Na'ats is called "Hada'iq-e-Bakshish" containing some of the finest praises of Allah and of His chosen people.

6. Following the Sunnah of the Messenger (upon him peace & blessings) to the smallest detail

The character of the Noble Messenger (upon him peace & blessings) was imprinted in Imam Ahmed Rida's life. He staunchly practised the Sunnah and so did his disciples and students.

7. Uncompromising defence of the Ahlus-Sunnah beliefs and practises

He authored more than two hundred books on the teachings of the Ahlus-Sunnah and their defence.

His Books

Imam Ahmed Rida wrote more than a thousand books and commentaries in more than 55 sciences. A list of about 350 books is available titled "al-Mujmal al Mu'addid". A bulky 12 volume Hanafi fatwa collection: "Fataawa-e-Ridawiyyah" in Urdu/Arabic was recently published in Lahore (Pakistan) with an index in 33 volumes! His Fataawa are an ocean of knowledge and wisdom.

The Sunni Muslims of the sub-continent (India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan) remember the great Imam for his service to the Ahlus-Sunnah and consider him a saviour when the Sunni-way was at threat.

His Demise and Burial

Imam Ahmed Rida passed away on 28th October 1921 CE (25th Safar 1340h) at the age of 65, in his home at Jumu'ah time when the mu'adhin was saying "come to success" leaving behind two sons, Mowlana Hamid Raza and Mufti Mustafa Raza, and five daughters.

People from all over the world visit his blessed shrine in Bareilly Shareef every year on 25th Safar and attend the annual khatam (Blessed URS).

The great grandson who takes care of the affairs of the school of Imam Ahmed Rida in Bareilly is Mufti Akhtar Rida Khan, a fine scholar and graduate of al-Azhar University in Egypt. He is now visually impaired yet still teaches and dictates translations to books in Arabic and English, with good knowledge of English. May Allah preserve him and grant health.

| SACRIFICING ANIMALS |

I. Hadrat Zaid ibn Arqam Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu reported that the companions of the Messenger of Allah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam asked:

يا رسول الله ما هذه الأضاحى قال: سنة أبيكم إبراهيم. قالوا فما لنا فيها يا رسول الله قال: بكل شعرة حسنة. قالوا فالصوف يا رسول الله قال: بكل شعرة من الصوف حسنة
"O Messenger of Allah! What is this sacrifice?" He said, "It is the practice of your father Abraham." They asked, "What is the reward for us in it?" He said, "For every hair, you will be rewarded." They asked, "for the wool, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "For every strand of wool you will be rewarded." [Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 1, Page 226, Hadith 3247]

II. Hadrat 'Ayesha Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha reported that the Messenger of Allah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam has said,

"On the day of sacrifice no one does a deed more pleasing to Allah than the shedding of blood. The sacrifice will come on the Day of Resurrection with its horns, its hairs and its hooves; and the blood finds acceptance with Allah before it falls on the ground." [Sunan Tirmidhi, Vol. 1, Page 275, Hadith 1572]

III. Hadrat Hanash Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu reported:

I saw Hadrat 'Ali sacrificing two rams. I asked him: "what is this?" He said, "The Messenger of Allah had enjoined me to sacrifice on his behalf; so I am sacrificing on his behalf." [Mishkat, Page 128, Hadith 1642]

IV. Hadrat Abu Hurairah
Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu reported that the Messenger of Allah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam has said,

"Such a person who had the ability and means to sacrifice an animal, but (despite this) he did not do so; should never come near our Eidgah (place where the Eid prayers are performed)." [Musnad Ahmad, Vol. 18, Page 27, Hadith 8496]

V. Hadrat Umm-e-Salmah
Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha reported that the Messenger of Allah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam has said,

"when you see the new moon of Dhul Hijjah and one of you intends to make sacrifice, he must not shave his hair, trim it, or clip his nails." [Sahih Muslim, Vol. 2, Page 160, Hadith 5234]

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. For the condition of sacrificing, the Malik-e-Nisab is the person who possesses 52 ½ tolas (620 grammes) of silver or 7 ½ tolas (88 grammes) of gold; or they have the same amount equivalent to either of the above item in value in business goods or non-business goods, which are not goods that are the basic necessities of life. The wealth and/or property should be 'extra'/above one's basic necessities (hajat-e-asliyyah).

2. Nowadays, the price of silver is less. The price of silver in current-day value is approximately £2 per tola. Therefore, anyone who possess the value of: £2 x 52 ½ tola = £105 - which exceeds his/her basic necessities and also the debt which is to be paid back – then it is wajib on such a person to sacrifice an animal.

3. Such a Malik-e-Nisab who has already sacrificed an animal on behalf of himself, and the following year he is still a Malik-e-Nisab then again it is wajib upon him to sacrifice an animal on his behalf. This ruling applies for each year (that sacrificing is wajib if a person is a Malik-e-Nisab). It has been stated in a Hadith: "It is wajib upon every household to sdacrifice an animal each year."

4. If a Malik-e-Nisab sacrifices on behalf of someone else, instead of sacrificing an animal on behalf of himself (i.e. does not sacrifice an animal on his behalf), then he has committed a great sin. Thus, if he wants to sacrifice on someone else's behalf, then he should make preparations to buy another animal and sacrifice it.

5. Some people who think that, "It is wajib only once in a lifetime to sacrifice an animal on one's behalf" is farce and wrong, which has no proof; as it is wajib upon a Malik-e-Nisab to sacrifice an animal on his behalf each year.

6. In villages, it is permissible to sacrifice animals on the 10th of Dhu'l Hijjah after the break of dawn (Subh-e-Sadiq). However, it is Mustahab to sacrifice it after sunrise. [Fatawa-e-'Alamgiri Vol. 5 Page 260]

7. It is not permissible to sacrifice animals before the Eid prayer in cities and towns. [Bahar-e-Shari'at]

8. Such a poor person - who cannot afford to sacrifice an animal - should also refrain from shaving or trimming hair and clipping nails; so as to resemble the pilgrims on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah.

9. It is permissible for a resident of a city or a town to send his animal to a person living in a village; and have it sacrificed before the Eid prayer; and then have the meat sent back to him in the city or town. [al-Durr al-Mukhtar]

10. It is not permissible to give the skin or the meat of the sacrificed animal as the wage to the butcher or the one who has sacrificed the animal. [al-Durr al-Mukhtar]

11. It is not permissible to give the meat of a sacrificed animal to any infidel.

12. The method of sacrificing an animal is to lay it on its left, such that its face is towards the Qiblah and then place the right foot on its side and holding a sharp knife (concealed obviously from the animal or if it is blind-folded then there is no harm). The animal should be sacrificed using a sharp knife.

13. If Qurbani has been performed on behalf of someone who has passed away, then the meat can be eaten by the person himself, it can be gifted to friends, as well as donated to the poor. It is not necessary to donate all of the meat to the poor, as the meat is in his ownership and he can do as he wishes. However, if the deceased requested for Qurbani to be done on his behalf, then all the meat should be distributed to the poor, he should not eat from it. [Bahar-e-Shari'at]

14. If the Qurbani is of Mannat (vow), then the meat cannot be eaten by the person himself, nor can it be given to the rich. It is wajib to give all of the meat to the poor as Sadaqah. Whether the person who has made the vow is poor or whether he is rich, the ruling for them is the same; he cannot eat it himself, nor can he give it to the rich. [Bahar-e-Shari'at]

15. The animal's skin, reins, saddle etc should all be given in sadaqah, one can use the skin for their own usage, such as to make the skin into a leather bag or a prayer mat. However, one cannot sell the skin to someone else, and then use the money for their own benefit. If this has been done, then the money received should be given as sadaqah.

16. Nowadays, people give the animal skin to Madrissahs and other Islamic institutions. This is perfectly permissible. If one sells the skin with the intention of giving the money received to the Madrissa, then this is also permissible. ['Alamgiri, Bahar-e-Shari'at]

17. The skin of the sacrificed animal cannot be given to the Imam as his wage. Yes, however, it can be given to him as a gift or for his benefit. [Bahar-e-Shari'at]

18. A camel must be at least five years old; a buffalo should be at least two years old; and a sheep, lamb or a goat should be at least one year old. [al-Durr al-Mukhtar]

19. The animal intended to be slaughtered should be big and health, and should be free from any faults or defects. If there is a minor defect in the animal, then the Qurbani will count, but it is Makruh. If there is a major defect, then the Qurbani will not count. [al-Durr al-Mukhtar, Radd al-Muhtar, Fatawa-e-'Alamgiri]

20. Some think that sacrificing one animal will suffice for one whole household; all of whom are Malik-e-Nisab. This is wrong. Each and every person from such a household should sacrifice an animal on their behalf. Yes, however, a household can share seven parts from a 'large' animal such as a camel, cow, buffalo etc.
