Shaykh al-Islam wa al-Muslimeen, Sultan al-Fuqaha, Faqeeh al-Asr, Taaj al-Shari'ah Mufti Muhammad Akhtar Rida Khan (may Allah preserve him) has produced a number of first-rate works/translations in various Islamic disciplines. Among them are (non-exhaustive list):

1) Mufti Akhtar Rida translated "al-Zulal al-Anqa Min Bahr Sabaqat al-Atqa" into Urdu which was written by Imam Ahmad Rida Khan in Arabic on the commentary of the verse "those who are most God-fearing will be far removed from it" (92:17). This scholarly commentary argues to establish that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddique is the most virtuous companion. It contains arguments against Tafdhili Shi'ites and requires an in-depth understanding of Usul al-Tafsir and Usul al-Din.

2) Mufti Akhtar Rida wrote an Arabic commentary to a selection of Hadiths to Sahih al-Bukhari which is titled "Namudhaj Hashiyat al-Bukhari". His strength and authenticity of arguments is very clear in the way he rebuts Ahmad Ali Saharanpuri in a number of Fiqh related issues.

3) He also wrote and excellent Usuli commentary to the Hadith of the intention "Actions are based upon intentions" which he called "Sharh Hadith al-Niyyah".

4) [Fiqh/Hadith] The Shaykh dictated the translation to Imam Ahmad Riza Khan's magnum opus work on the issue of combining prayers titled "Haajiz al-Bahrayn al-Waaqi an al-Jam bayn al-Salatayn" into Arabic. The work combines Fiqh with Hadith and perfectly illustrates how a faqih analyses Hadith evidences.

5) [Usul al-Hadith] Mufti Akhtar Rida fully dictated the Arabic translation to Imam Ahmad Rida Khan's "al-Haad al-Kaaf Fi Hukm al-Di'aaf" (The Sufficient Guide on Weak Hadiths). It was published by Dar al-Sananbil of Damascus and Dar al-Hawi of Beirut in 2009. The work uniquely examines the definitions of weak Hadith, and their application and usage in areas of Fiqh uncovering Wahhabi fallacies in their understanding of their acceptance and rejection. It is ample with scholarly discussions and is an outstanding gift for the student and teacher as its signatory Sayyid Yusuf al-Hashimi al-Beiruti (p. 139) clearly points in his endorsement,

This book can be obtained from Dar al-Faqih in Abu Dhabi, Dar al-Dhiya lil-Nashr in Kuwait, Maktabah Tarim al-Hadithah in Tarim, Dar al-Salam in Cairo, Maktabah al-Tamam in Beirut and Dar al-Ulum al-Islamiyya in Indonesia. Six Ulama endorsed it with their remarks. They are: Abu Muhammad Musa Abduh Yusuf al-Is'haqi (from the Is'haqiyya Ashraf of Somali-Jeddah), Muhammad Anas Muhammad Saleem Murad who wrote the endorsement on behalf of his Shaykh Sa'd al-Din al-Murad (Jeddah), Sayyid Yusuf Muhammad Idris al-Hasani al-Husaini al-Hashimi (Beirut), Sayyid Yusuf Hashim Rifa'i (Kuwait), Shaykh Mahmud al-Huwt al-Nabhani (Halab, Syria) and Muhammad Nazim Ali Misbahi (Mubarakpur, India).

Sayyid Yusuf al-Rifa'i (p. 240-1) thanks the Shaykh for producing the translation of a work that was much needed in the Arabic language such that it now "fills an empty area in the library of the Ah al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah" and addressed him saying "al-Allamah al-Mukarram al-Akh al-Shaykh al-Mubajjal al-Shaykh Akhtar Ridha" and "al-Allamah al-Hafid al-Da'iyah".

Shaykh Mahmud al-Huwt (p. 244-5) refers to the Shaykh as "al-Imam" and "Taaj al-Shari'ah" and claims that "he has never seen a work of its kind" saying,

Shaykh Musa Abduh Yusuf al-Is'haqi (p. 236) calls the Shaykh "Mawlana wa-Ustadhuna al-Fadhil" among other revering names. Here is the Arabic,

6) Mufti Akhtar Rida dictated the complete Arabic translation of Imam Ahmad Rida Khan's "al-Amnu wa al-Ula li-Naa'iti al-Mustafa bi-Daafi al-Bala" (Protection and Eminence for the Person who Praises the Chosen One as an Eliminator of Calamity) which was published Dar al-Nu'man, Damascus, 2009. This work is a scholarly refutation of Muftis that considered the "Salat Taajiyah" shirk on the basis that is impermissible to call anyone other than Allah "Daafi al-Balaa". It categorically refutes the Wahhabi stance using numerous verses of al-Qur'an al-Karim and its commentaries and two hundred and eighteen Hadiths of the Noble Prophet (may Allah bless him and give him peace) with their sources on the topic making it an encyclopaedic work. The muqaddima contains an excellent explanation to the types of Isnad and Nisbah highlighting the correct usage of this title for the Noble Prophet (may Allah bless him ad give him peace). The Shaykh put excellent Hadith notes to this work and his student created its bibliographical references.

It contains a three page endorsement by the great fadhil and adeeb, Abdul Jaleel Ata in which he addresses the Shaykh with titles such as "Fadilat al-Allamah al-Jalil al-Shaykh Muhammad Akhtar Rida Khan", "Taaj al-Shari'ah", "Fadilat al-Shaykh al-Jalil al-Murabbi al-Fadil" and praises the scholarly activities of the Shaykh saying,

7) Mufti Akhtar Rida Khan dictated the full translation of Shah Fazl al-Rasul Badayouni's "al-Mu'taqad al-Muntaqad" from the Arabic into Urdu, and its commentary "al-Mu'tamad al-Mustanad" by Imam Ahmad Rida Khan. Those teaching Aqidah know how difficult of a text this work is. It contains many intricate discussions on Asma wa-Sifaat yet the Shaykh has effectively translated the work which when read in Urdu seems as though it was originally written in Urdu! The Shaykh translated this work throughout the car and aeroplane journey to Sri Lanka in 2003 and completed it within six months. This single example is sufficient to establish to our readers the immensity of the Shaykh's knowledge and determined efforts to teach.

8) [Asma wa-Sifat] The Shaykh has dictated the translation to Imam Ahmad Riza Khan's "Subhan al-Subbuh an Ayb Kadhib Maqbuh" into Arabic. I sat in one of awe-filling majalis to listen to the Shaykh's mastery in the subject and translation of the text. This will be the largest known work on establishing the sifah of truth (sidq) for Allah Most Sublime and refuting the view of Imkan al-Kadhib. It shall shatter - by the aid of the Most Truthful - the Deobandi stance in Arabic when released. The work is a masterpiece in Asma wa-Sifat containing a wealth of rational and transmitted proofs. The translation is near completion, wal-hamdulillah. None other than an expert can embark such a task.

9) [Hadith/Aqidah] The Shaykh dictated the translation of "Shumul al-Islam li-Usul al-Rasul al-Kiram" by Imam Ahmad Rida Khan into Arabic on the Iman of the parents of our Noble Prophet (upon him peace and blessings). This was published along with the Shaykh's study on the Father of Sayyiduna Ibrahim in Arabic titled "Tahqiq Anna Aba Ibrahim Tarih wa-laysa Azar". These works were endorsed by the following Ulama:

Sayyid Abdullah Fad'aq Hashimi (Da'iyah of Makkah and student of the late Sayyid Muhammad Alawi Maliki), who referred to the Shaykh as "Fadilat al-Imam al-Shaykh Muhammad Akhtar Ridha Khan al-Azhari al-Mufti al-Azam fi al-Hind"

Shaykh Isa Mani al-Himyari (Muhadith of Dubai) who referred to the Shaykh as "al-Shaykh al-Aarif billah al-Muhadith Muhammad Akhtar Ridha al-Hanafi al-Qadiri al-Azhari"

Shaykh Waathiq Fu'ad Ubaydi (Baghdad) who called him "Shaykhuna al-Jalil, Sahib al-Radd al-Qati, Murshid al-Saalikeen, al-Mahfouz bi-Rabb al-alameen, al-Aalim al-Fadhil" and "Taaj al-Shari'ah"

Mufti Jamal Abdul Kareem al-Dabban (Baghdad) who referred to him as "al-Imam al-Allamah al-Qudwah Sahib al-Fadhilat al-Shaykh"

10) [Qasaid/Madih] During my stay in Jeddah in Dhul Hijjah (2009) after the completion of Haj, I visited Mufti Akhtar Rida Khan in Jeddah and witnessed his knowledge and piety. He gave his daily commentary on Qasidah Burdah (verses 90-91) fluently in Arabic which was being recorded (I personally possess 3 unedited audio cds).

The Shaykh has memorised the entire Qasidah Burdah and Dalai'il al-Khayrat by heart. Every morning after Fajr, he recites the entire Burdah till sunrise. After every Asr prayer, he recites a section from Dala'il al-Khayrat. This has been his wird-occupation since teenage years. I witnessed this on the 13th morning of Dhul Hijjah in Mina and after Asr in Jeddah. The Shaykh has a Diwan to his name titled "Safinah-e-Bakhshish" which contains several qasaid and mada'ih on the Noble Prophet (upon him peace and blessings) and the chosen people, some of which are in Arabic too. One of his famous Qasidahs is which he recited in his majlis with the Ulama of Damascus in August 2008 and in Jeddah 2009 (partial):

When the Shaykh recited the last verse, Sayyid Abdul Aziz Khatib (Damascus) began profoundly saying (as heard from students that were present):

أختر سيدنا وابن سيدنا

Expressing his yearning for the Noble Habib (may Allah give him peace and blessing) Mufti Akhtar Rida writes (partial):

A Notice: The reader must keep in mind that Mufti Akhtar Rida Khan is visually impaired and cannot read or write. He listens to a text and dictates the translation and those occupied in translating know how difficult of a task this is especially when translating difficult texts in Islamic disciplines!

Acclaim Among Contemporary Arab Ulama:

1) Shaykh Abdul Jaleel Ata (Damascus) recited the following qasidah in praise of the Shaykh in Damascus in the presence of numerous scholars and students who gathered to join the Shaykh, every letter of which lustres with love and truth,

This majlis was attended by Shaykh Abdur-Razzaq Halabi, Shaykh Hussam al-Din Farfour, Shaykh Abdul Aziz Khateeb, Shaykh Hisham Burhani, Shaykh Abdul Hadi Kharsah and many others.

2) In his first-rate work on the defining the manhaj of Imam Ahmad Rida Khan titled "Insaf al-Imam", the Egyptian author Shaykh Muhammad Khalid Thabit (p. 114-5) speaks of his encounter with Mufti Akhtar Rida Khan in Egypt in the following words,

3) The Azhar Journal titled "Sawt al-Azhar" (May Issue 2009) referred to the Shaykh as "Mufti al-Hind". In this visit, the Shaykh met with Shaykh al-Azhar in his office for an hour and who presented him an Azhar award for his scholarly achievements and activities.

Among Those Who Visited Mufti Akhtar Rida Khan in Bareilly:

1) The late Muhadith of Makkah, Sayyid Muhammad Alawi al-Maliki (may Allah have mercy on him) travelled to Bareilly in April 2004 during Rabi' al-Awwal. They engaged in a number of scholarly discussions with Shaykh Akhtar and in his talk addressed Shaykh Akhtar with the title "al-Mufti al-A'zam bil-alam". When he studied the Shaykh's Arabic Hashiya on Sahih al-Bukhari titled "Namudhaj Hashiyat al-Azhari" he regarded the Shaykh as "Muhadith Hanafi" before those that were present.

2) Sayyid Muhammad Umar ibn Saleem al-Mahdi al-Dabbagh of Baghdad was appointed as the Head of Arabic literature at Jamiat al-Ridha in Bareilly in 2007. He showed immense love for the Shaykh and wrote a qasidah in his praise which he publicly recited on the Imam Ahmad Rida Conference in Bareilly on the 24th Safar, 2007.

3) The Mufti of Damascus, Shaykh Abdul Fattah Bizm visited Mufti Akhtar Rida at his residence twice during the last Hajj season (2009) in Jeddah and in Madinah Tayyibah. I personally witnessed the amount of love these Shuyukh had for one another on both occasions. In his talk in Jeddah, Mufti Abdul Fattah expressed his feelings about the Shaykh and spoke of his previous meetings with him in Syria and Bareilly. He said, "When the Shaykh came to Damascus the first time round, I heard about him and wanted to visit him. Some people prevented me but I went to meet him and at the first sight Allah made me realise that he is from the people of Allah (Ahlullah)".

He then added, speaking of a miracle he experienced, that when the Shaykh invited him to Bareilly he was in two minds about travelling even to the moment of submitting his passport. For some reason, the visa was not issued. Upon collecting the passport, he mentioned that Shaykh Akhtar rang him and said, "If you make a firm intention, Allah will make the means easy". Mufti Abdul Fattah said, "This struck my heart and I came to realise that the Shaykh is aware of the state of my heart". Thereafter, I made a firm intention and re-submitted my passport and received the visa".

He also said, "When I travelled to Bareilly and saw the thousands of people that are attached to Shaykh Akhtar, it brought joy to my heart that the people of India are still connected with their shuyukh and illustrate immense love and respect for them". This is what I remember from his comments. If anyone requires an audio recording of this talk, Insha Allah, I can try to facilitate it and perhaps others too.

Acclaim in Indo-Pakistan:

Bareilly, as all of us know, has a massive Sunni following in and around the world. Mufti Akhtar Rida Khan has been the Shaykh of the silsilah and head Mufti there for many years. The claim that he is not known among India's people is clearly a lie intended to discredit the Shaykh. A 700 page book has been compiled on the life, works and activities of the Shaykh titled "Tajalliyaat Taaj al-Shariah" containing the comments, letters, articles of hundreds of ulama from around the world to the Shaykh and their views about him. Majority of these articles, letters, qasa'id are in Urdu by scholars of India and Pakistan. It includes articles on the Shaykh's travels within India and meetings with its people that shatter the false notion. Mufti Abdul Fattah Bizm has witnessed the annual urs event at Bareilly in the month of Safar whose remarks I presented above

https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/378856_10150427724225334_672380333_9084274_252945189_n.jpg

The Manhaj of Mufti Akhtar Rida Khan in Love and Hate:

It would be not be a hyperbolic comment if I were to assert that Mufti Akhtar Rida is an embodiment of the Hadith "Love for the sake of Allah and Hate for the sake Allah". He loves the awliya of the entire world and hates the enemies of Allah and His Messenger (upon him peace and blessings). He does not unite with those who "offend" Allah and His Messenger with comments that are by nature "repulsive", "repugnant", "below the standards of scholarly discourse", "indefensible breaches of proper respect" and thus "unacceptable to Muslims around the world" and neither does he have compassion for those who shamelessly destroy the graves of the companions and Ahlul Bayt, demolish Muslim sites and heritage whilst preserving Jewish landmarks and relics of their Kings in their museums, and speak with minimal respect about the Noble Habib (may Allah bless him and give him peace), his companions, kin, and the majority of the Ummah whom they consider misguided. He has no love for those who consider it permissible to shout out Shirk and kufr slogans to those who recite the Burdah and Dalai'il. He has written and spoken against such people and their beliefs as this is the duty (wajib dini) of every upright scholar from Ahlus-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah, and is not a hobby as some may assert, to warn people from wavering and falling into the trap of the Shaytan.

As for the claim that the Shaykh makes takfir of everyone other than himself and those affiliated with him is another exaggeration, rather, a lie that stems from animosity. The Shaykh has replied to this accusation in Arabic in his "Mira'at al-Najdiyyah" published by the name "Haqiqat al-Barelwiyyah", which is the reply to Qadhi Atiyyah's endorsement to Ihasan Ali Zahir's "al-Barelwiyyah" (Published in Egypt by Dar al-Muqattam, 2009) asking him to produce a single nas of our ulama in which they have made takfir of Ibn Taymiyya, Ibn Abdul Wahhab and their followers. Rather, it is these people who make takfir and tadlil of the entire ummah. This accusation is the popular one found in "Nuzhat al-Khawatir" and "al-Barelwiyyah" about Barelwis and is false.

Conclusions:

On these premise, our conclusions therefore are that Shaykh Akhtar Rida Khan

a) is a scholar, a Mufti and one who possesses immense knowledge "Allamah" of the Shari'ah.
b) is a tireless teacher of the Islamic sciences, valuing time and teaching throughout his travels.
c) has excellent command on the Arabic language and translation skills.
d) is beloved to the Ulama of the Arab world and has been received with warm hearts and love.
e) produces works in various scholarly disciplines which have brought immense benefit to the Ahlus-Sunnah.
f) is not just a scholar of the outward sciences but a man of Allah whose presence is awe-filling and a person of karaamat.
g) is on the manhaj of the Ahlus-Sunnah Wa al-Jama'ah.
h) is well-known in India and its people of the Ahlus-Sunnah.

And to hold otherwise leads to the falsification of popular accounts by ulama and awliya on the basis of a solitary report lacking proper adab of discourse which appears biased to anyone who reads it with a sound mind. Supporting false notions attributed to the Shaykh such that he is not an "alim", he is "unknown" and that he makes "takfir of everyone" is unlawful when there are clear signs to the contrary. Beware too of having animosity towards the awliya as its consequence from Allah is devastating! And alone gives guidance.

29th Dhu al-Qa'dah | Ra'ees al-Muhaqiqeen Allama Naqi Ali Khan (Alayhir Rahmah)

Ra'ees al-Muhaqqiqeen Hadrat Allama Mawlana
Naqi Ali Khan al-Qadiri Baraylawi (Alayhir Rahmah)

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/q71/s720x720/1238382_10151664276500334_1683342996_n.jpg

Allama Mawlana Naqi Ali Khan was born in Jumada al-Aakhir 1246 A.H. (1830). He was the son of the great mystic and scholar, Allama Khwaja Raza Ali Khan s/o Allama Muhammad Kazim Ali Khan s/o Allama Shah Muhammad Azam Khan s/o Allama Sa'adat Yaar Khan s/o Allama Sa'eedullah Khan (Alayhim ar-Rahmah).

Their ancestors had migrated from Qandahar (located in present-day Afghanistan). Born in 1831 C.E. in Bareilly, India. Allama Naqi studied under the auspicious gaze of his noble father (1809-1866), who was a student of Allama Mawlana Khalilrur Rahman Rampuri, may Allah have mercy on him. Mawlana Raza Ali earned certificates of distinction in various fields of sacred knowledge including the science of tasawwuf. He was held in high regard and esteem for his strict adherence to the Qur'an and Sunnah. He was a sagacious Sufi and a valiant freedom fighter. Malik al-Ulama Allama Zafar ud-Din Bihari, may Allah have mercy on him, relates the following miracle in volume one of his Hayat-e-AlaHazrat :

"After the tumult of 1857, the British tightened the reins of power and committed atrocities toward the people, and everybody went about feeling scared. Important people left their homes and went back to their villages. But Mawlana Riza Ali Khan continued to live in his house as before, and would go to the mosque five times a day to say his prayers in congregation. One day some Englishmen passed by the mosque, and decided to see if anyone was inside so they could catch hold of them and beat them up. They went inside and looked around but didn't see anyone.  Yet the Mawlana was there at the time. Allah had made them blind, so they would be unable to see him… he came out of the mosque, they were still watching out for people, but no one saw him".

"And We have set a wall before them and a wall behind them, and covered the top - so they are unable to see anything". [Surah Yaseen, 36:9]

Allama Naqi Ali Khan (Alayhir Rahmah) was a great Mudarris (Teacher) and a prolific writer. Most of his time was spent in teaching and instilling the excellence of knowledge in the hearts of the people. His students posed intricate questions to him thinking that the Ustaaz will not be able to reply to them. But to their amazement, the Master replied instantaneously with a smile. His deep insight in complicated matters dazzled the contemporary Ulama of his time so much so that they conferred the title of Ra'eesul-Muhaqqiqeen (The Master of the Research Scholars) on him. Indeed, this title befitted him.

Allama Naqi was a disciple (Mureed) and successor (Khalifah) of Sayyid Aal-e-Rasool, the celebrated student and hadith expert of Shah Abdul Aziz son of Shah Waliyullah, may Allah have mercy on them all. He also received authorization to narrate hadith in Makkah from the illustrious Ustaz al-Ulama , Shaykh al-Haram Sayyid Ahmad Zayni Dahlan Makki, may Allah have mercy on him. Allama Naqi produced a number of texts defending Islamic orthodoxy and laid the foundation of Darul-Ifta in Bareilly Sharif, which became a citadel of faith , knowledge ['Ilm], blessing and awareness of Allah . It remains an imperturbable stronghold for the Ahl al-Sunnah to the present day. His son, Imam Ahmad Raza, may Allah have mercy on him, relates the following anecdote about his respected father from his Al-Malfuzat :

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/q71/s720x720/1233345_10151664207095334_87340068_n.jpg

" Mawlana Barakaat Ahmed (may Allah have mercy on him) accompanied my father to visit me in sickness. They both asked me how I was feeling. I replied, 'I am now tired of the severity of sickness, so please make du'a for me to now leave this duniya with Iman.' On hearing this, my father's face turned red and he said, 'There is still 52 years in Madina Munawwarah.' Allah, the Exalted, knows best what he was referring to. I could not understand what this meant.

Later in my life, the interpretation of this dream unfolded. My second trip to Haramain Shareefayn, I was in my 52nd year. Actually, my age was 51 years and 5 months. My father (may Allah have mercy on him) had foretold this trip 14 years ago . Allah, the Exalted, entrusts Ilm-e-Ghayb to the servants of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (may blessings and peace be upon him) and these Wahhabis reject the Ilm-e-Ghaib of the Beloved Nabi (may blessings and peace be upon him).

A few years ago in the month of Rajab, I dreamt of my father, who said, 'You will fall very sick in this Ramadan, but you must not leave the fast.' It happened so. The physician and doctors forced me not to keep fast but I ignored them. By the Grace of Allah (Almighty & Glorious is He) I kept my entire fast and I got better. The Hadith Shareef clearly states: Fast and you will get healthy."

Allama Naqi Ali (Alayhir Rahmah) was a great lover of the Beloved Habeeb Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) and also remained engrossed in this love all his life. Once he fell very ill and was confined to bed. He laid there in a very depressed mood. The beloved Habeeb (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) saw the state of pain and depression of his true Aashiq and blessed him. One night, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) appeared in his dream and compassionately gave him a cup of water to drink. As soon as he drank it, he was instantly cured. He awoke the next morning totally cured and once again healthy. It seemed if he was never sick.

He wrote more than 50 books on various subjects, among them;

  • Suroor al-Quloob fi Zikri Mawlood al-Mahboob
  • Al-Kalaam al-Awdah fi Tafseer Sura Alam-Nash'rah
  • Wasilatun Najaah
  • Jawahar al-Bayaan
  • Hidayatul Bariyah
  • Ahsanul Wi'a li Aadabi Du'a and etc.
received very high distinctive stature amongst Islamic literature. His treatises are characteristic in its condemnation of the enemies of Islam, both internally and externally.

Allama Naqi Ali (Alayhir Rahmah) passed away on 29th Dhu al-Qa'dah 1297 A.H. (1880) at the time of Zuhar and was laid to rest besides his illustrious father, Taaj al-Aarifeen Imam Muhammad Raza Ali (Alayhir Rahmah). His Mazaar Shareef is in Bareilly Shareef, India. Allama Naqi Ali Khan devoted every moment of his life to Allah the Exalted and His Messenger, may blessings and peace be upon him. He preserved the scholarly tradition, and defended Islamic orthodoxy and mainstream Sufism.

Due to this sincerity, the last thing that he wrote on a piece of paper was "Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem". The last word that he uttered before he passed away was "Allah". May Almighty Allah sanctify his soul and grant him proximity to his Creator.

May Allah Most High sanctify his soul and grant him proximity to his Creator, Almighty and Glorious is He... Aameen!

The Excellence of Keeping the Names "AHMAD" and "MUHAMMAD"

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/37528_416070320333_4836088_n.jpg
The Holy Prophet Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him has two personal names. He is known as Ahmad in the past scriptures and Muhammad in the Holy Qur'an. There are countless attributive names of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him. He is known by a distinct name in different areas. Every area (skies, earth, oceans, mountains, etc.) knows him by a special name and he is addressed accordingly.

There are numerous Fada'il (Excellence and Benefits) of keeping the names "AHMAD" and "MUHAMMAD" as mentioned in many sayings (Ahadith) of the best of the Creation; the Master of Mankind Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him. Few of them are stated below:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/22564_281390935333_2624986_n.jpg

1. It is stated in Tabarani that the Holy Prophet Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam said, "Keep the names (of your children) on my name and not on my Kunniyat (Title)."

2. Ibn Asakir and Hussain Ibn Ahmad has stated that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam said, "If a son is born to you and out of love and respect for me and to obtain the blessings of my name, you keep the child's name 'Muhammad', then the father and child will both enter Jannah."

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/22564_281390210333_212320_n.jpg

3. Hafidh Abu Tahir and Hafidh Ibn Bakeer narrates on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam said, "On the day of Qiyamah two persons will be summoned to the Court of ALLAH. The verdict would be - 'take them both to Jannah!' They would say, 'O Almighty ALLAH! We have performed no good deed to entitle us to enter Jannah!' ALLAH will  command again, 'Take them to Jannah because I have taken an oath that I will not put any person in Jahannam (Hell) whose name is Ahmad or Muhammad.'"

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/166150_484767055333_6502524_n.jpg

NOTE: Elaborating on the above Hadith, A'laHadrat Imam Ahmad Rida (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu) states: "That person is a Mu'min (Believer) and according to the Quran, the Hadith and the Sahaba, a Mu'min is he who has sound and correct beliefs of the Ahle Sunnah Wa Jama'ah, that is, 'Sunni Sahih-ul-Aqida'. On the contrary, as for those who are misled and possess incorrect Aqaid are, according to Hadith Shareef, dogs of Jahannam whose deeds are rejected, and even if they are innocently murdered between Hajre Aswad and Makame Ibraheem and have Sabr and hopes for reward from ALLAH, then too ALLAH will not show any mercy towards them but sentence them to Hell. These Ahadith have been narrated by Daarqutni, Ibn Majah, Baihaqi and Ibn Jawzi etc from Hadrat Abu Umaama and Hadrat Huzaifa and Hadrat Anas (Radi Allahu Ra'aala Anhum Ajma'een) and this faqeer (AlaHadrat) has quoted these narrations in numerous of his Fatawa. Now, it must be noted that there is no glad tidings in this Hadith (about those whose names are Muhammad and Ahmad), for kuffaar like Muhammed bin Abdul Wahab Najdi or Sayid Ahmed Khan whose maslak is clearly kufr, since even the fragrance of Jannat is definitely haraam upon the kaafirs." [Ahkaam-e-Shariat]

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/22564_281397125333_5249527_n.jpg

4. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam states: "My Lord has mentioned to me, 'I swear by My Sight and greatness that whosoever is named after you shall never be destroyed by the Fire of Hell.'" [Hilyah Abu Nu'aym]

5. Ameer al-Mu'mineen Sayyiduna Ali (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu) narrates that Rasoollulah Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam states: "Those who sit in a company and eat food, and if there is a person amongst them by the name of Ahmad or Muhammad, then that entire group would receive the blessing of ALLAH twice daily." [Hafidh Ibne Bakeer, Waylami, Musnad Abi Saeed Naqqash, Ibn Adi Kaamil]

Shortly, in homes where persons with these sacred names live, ALLAH blesses that home twice daily.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/22564_281402020333_7592842_n.jpg

6. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam states: "What would you lose if in your homes there is one, two or three Muhammad's." [Tabaqat Ibne Sa'ad]

7. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam states: "When a group sit in consultation and if a person by the name of Muhammad is amongst them, but is not included in such a meeting, ALLAH does not bestow Barakah in such a meeting." [Taraifi, Ibne Jawzi]

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/22564_281406825333_2226474_n.jpg

8. The Glorious Prophet of ALLAH Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam said: "He who is blessed with three sons and does not name one Muhammad is indeed a Jahil (Ignorant)." [Tabarani, Mau'jam al-Kabeer]

9. The Holy Prophet Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam said: "When you name the child Muhammad, respect him, make place and accommodate him in a gathering and do not accuse or curse him." [Hakim, Musnad al-Firdous, etc.]

https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/22564_281413750333_4168240_n.jpg

10. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam said: "When you name your son Muhammad, do not hit him, deprive him or rob him." [Musnad, Bazar]

It is preferable (MustaHsan) to keep the child's name "Muhammad" alone and not to add any name to it because the excellence of the sacred name alone has been mentioned in the aHadith. [An Nooru Wad Diya, pages 18 to 24]

11. Imam Sakhaawi narrated on the authority of Imam Ataa (Radi Allahu Anhu) [Taabi'ee, who is the distinguished Teacher of Imam al-A'ima Sayyidina Imam al-Azam Abu Hanifa Radi Allahu Anhuma] as follows: "One who wishes for his pregnant wife to have a boy baby, he should place his hand on her stomach and say,

If it is a boy, then I have named him Muhammad.

In sha Allah a boy will be born.
"

Forty Ahadith on the Intercession of the Beloved Prophet SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam

Forty Ahadith on the Intercession of the Beloved Prophet

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/311772_10150296699490334_672380333_8504591_573266666_n.jpg

Dear Readers! You already have received the email titled, "The Radiant Quranic Rays on the Intercession of the Best of Creation". In the previous email, I  presented the verses of Quran al-Kareem in support to our belief that the beloved Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam is the Intercessor of the Sinners by the grace of Allah Almighty. AlHamduLILLAH! I have received a very warm and enthusiastic response from my brothers  and sisters but unfortunately, the opponents are still not satisfied. Rather, their sheer ignorance leads them to demand for Ahadith which reflect the true meaning of the Quranic verses and their commentaries presented earlier.

Well, I am very much amazed!! Are the Ahadith regarding Intercession such that they could be hidden from anyone? Scores of Sahaba, hundreds of Tabi'een and thousands of Muhaddithin have narrated them - all books of Hadith - the Sahihs, the Musnads, the Ma'ajims, the Jawami'es and the Musannafs – are all full of them. I present here a collection of 40 Ahadith, so that the faith of Muslims may be strengthened by them, and the deniers may burn in jealousy – especially those Ahadith which shall refute the unscrupulous, deviant & wicked wrong doers who have in their writings attempted to change the very meaning of intercession and tried to hide their rejection of intercession by changing its definition.

These Ahadith will make clear that our Master is the chosen and appointed one for intercession – he only is the refuge of the sinners, from him only is the succor for the friendless – contrary to what one deviant alleges that "whomever Allah wills, He will decree as an intercessor".

These Ahadith will give the glad tidings that the intercession of our Beloved Prophet is not just for those who have accidentally sinned and are ashamed and continuously fearful of their deeds – as one wicked wrongdoer has claimed thus "The theft has been proved upon the thief, but he is not a habitual thief and he has not adopted theft as his profession – but rather the theft was committed accidentally due to his own sheer bad luck – so he is repentant and cries day and night (so for such is the intercession)". No, surely not! I swear by Allah the Supreme Who has appointed the Holy Prophet as the Intercessor of the sinners, that his intercession is for the utterly sinful, wicked and oppressive Muslims like us who are so steeped in sins that even sins are ashamed of them.

Ahadith # 1 & 2

The Holy Prophet the Intercessor of the Sinners (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) said,

"Allah gave me the option of choosing between the power of intercession or having half of my Ummah admitted to Paradise without any reckoning. I chose the power of intercession because that is more important and will be more useful. Do you assume that my intercession is for the pious Muslims? No, on the contrary, it is for those sinners who are steeped in sins and have committed grave crimes." [Imam Ahmad in his Musnad from Hadrat Abdullah ibn Umar. Ibn Maja from Hadrat Abu Musa Asha'ari]

Sunan Ibn Maajah, Baab Zikr ash-Shafa'ah. Vol. 1, Page 329

"My intercession is for the sinful among my Ummah."

On this Abu Darda submitted,

"Even if he is an adulterer or a thief?"

He replied,

"Yes – even if he is an adulterer, even if he is a thief – contrary to the wishes of Abu Darda!!"

Hadith # 14

"I shall go towards Hell and knock at its door, so it will be opened for me. I will enter it - and praise Allah with such praise that has never been done by anyone before me, nor shall it ever be done by anyone after me – and shall remove from it every such person who has with a sincere heart said 'None is worthy of worship except Allah'."

Ref:
al-Mau'jam al Awsat, Hadith 3857, Vol. 4, Page 503

Hadith # 15

The Holy Prophet the Intercessor of the Sinners (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) said,

"Pulpits of gold will be arranged for the Prophets and they will sit on them, and my pulpit will remain empty as I will not sit on it – but I shall stand humbly before my Lord fearing that I may be sent into Paradise while my Ummah remains behind me. I shall then pray, "O my Lord! My Ummah! My Ummah!" Allah the Supreme will proclaim, "O Mohammed! What is your wish regarding what I should do with your Ummah?" I shall submit, "O my Lord! Settle their accounts quickly!" So I will continue to intercede until I get letters to get released those who had already been sent to hell – to the extent that Maalik, the custodian of hell, will exclaim, "O Mohammed! You have not left even a bit of the Lord's wrath among your Ummah!" [Hakim with sound chains and Tibrani & Baihaqi from Hadrat Abdullah ibn Abbas]

Ahadith # 16 to 21

All these 6 Ahadith report that the Holy Prophet the Intercessor of the Sinners (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) said,

"I have been appointed as the Intercessor, and intercession has been bestowed exclusively to me. Ahadith # 22 & 23

The Holy Prophet the Intercessor of the Sinners (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) said,

"Although thousands of prayers of the Prophets are accepted, they are also bestowed with one special prayer from Allah – that they may ask whatever they desire and it will certainly be granted. All the Prophets up to Prophet Eisa have utilised their privileged prayers in this world whereas I have saved it for the hereafter – and that is my Intercession for my Ummah on the day of judgement. My intercession is for all persons of my Ummah who have left this world with faith." [In the narrations of Hadrat Abdullah ibn Abbas, Hadrat Abu Saeed Khudri and Hadrat Moosa Ash'ari, the same subject as mentioned as in the narrations of Ahmed, Bukhari & Muslim from Hadrat Anas. Bukhari & Muslim from Hadrat Abu Huraira]

O Allah – grant us the intercession, by the honour of the Prophet with you! Aameen.

Allahu Akbar!! O the sinners of this Ummah! Do you not see the extreme compassion and mercy of our Master the Holy Prophet upon you? For he was bestowed three such prayers from Allah the Supreme – to seek whatever he wished – and he did not seek anything for himself, but assigned them just for you. He sought two things in this world – these two were also for you – and has reserved one for the hereafter – for your dire need on that day, when except for our compassionate & merciful Master there will be none providing help, none removing your calamities.

Allah the Almighty, has rightly said,

"Your falling into hardship aggrieves him, most concerned for your well being, for the Muslims most compassionate, most merciful." [Surah Tauba 9:128]

By Allah! By oath of the One who has made our Master so merciful upon us, no mother can have so much love and affection for her only son as much as he has for every single person of his Ummah! O Allah – You indeed know our limitations and weaknesses, and You indeed know the lofty rights of his greatness upon us – so O Allah, the Omnipotent, the Supreme Being, the Great! Shower your choicest, abundant, auspicious blessings upon him and his progeny that befit his rights and that suffice his mercy!

Praise be to Allah! And what has the Ummah done in lieu of his mercy? Some raise doubts about his high status, some are sceptical of his power of intercession, some equal his rank to themselves, some get upset when he is glorified – while some allege acts of love to be inventions and some declare acts of respect and honour to be polytheism! May Allah save & protect us!! Aameen.

Hadith # 24

The Holy Prophet the Intercessor of the Sinners (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) said,

"Allah the Supreme granted me three prayers, so I have twice prayed that

'O Allah, forgive my Ummah! O Allah forgive my Ummah!'

And I have reserved the last one for the day when the entire creation will approach me with their needs, even Prophet Ibrahim!" [Sahih Muslim from Hadrat Ubai ibn Ka'ab]

Ref:
Sahih Muslim, Vol 1, Page 273
Musnad Ahmad, Vol 5, Page 127

Hadith # 25

The Holy Prophet the Intercessor of the Sinners (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) submitted to his Lord, "You have granted such and such favours to the other Prophets!" So Allah the Supreme proclaimed,

"What I have granted you, is better than all of that – I have preserved Intercession for you and not given this to anyone else but you."

Ref:
Al-Shifa bi Tareefi Huqooqil Mustafa, Vol. 1, Page 134

HadIth # 26.

The Holy Prophet the Intercessor of the Sinners (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) said,

"On the day of judgement, I shall be the Leader of the Prophets, and their orator and the owner of their intercession – and I do not say this with any pride." [Ibn Abi Shaibah, Tirmizi, Ibn Majah and Hakim – from Hadrat Ubai Ibn Ka'ab]

Ref:
Sunan Tirmidhi, Vol. 2, Page 201
Sunan Ibn Maajah, Page 330
Al Mustadrak lil Hakim, Vol. 1, Page 71

Ahadith # 27 to 40

The Holy Prophet , the Intercessor of the Sinners (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him)
 said,

"My intercession on the day of judgement is a reality – so whoever does not believe in it will not deserve it." [Ibn Manie' from 14 Sahaba namely Hadrat Anas, Hadrat Jabir, Hadrat Ibn Abbas, Hadrat Ibne Umar, Hadrat Ka'ab, Hadrat Abi Darda, Hadrat Ibn Umar, Hadrat Abu Musa and etc.]

Ref:
Kanz al-Ummal, Hadith 39059, Vol. 14, Page 399

The unfortunate soul who belies intercession must therefore ponder upon the above mass narrated Hadith - and have pity upon himself by believing in the Intercession of our Master the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him).

O Allah! Make us worthy of his intercession in this world and in the hereafter. O Allah, the Supreme! Shower your choicest abundant auspicious blessings upon our Master and his progeny and upon all his followers until the day of judgement!

Peace & blessings be upon all the Prophets, and May Allah be well pleased with the Companions. Aameen!!

The Radiating Quranic Rays on the Intercession of the Best of Creation

The Radiating Quranic Rays on the Intercession
of the Best of Creation SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam

https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/167103_482556195333_2955408_n.jpg

A few days ago, I received an email in which a brother supplicated to be blessed with the shafa'ah (Intercession) of our beloved Master and Saviour Sayyiduna Muhammad Mustafa SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. However someone raised an objection and asked to be shown any evidence from the Glorious Qur'an and Hadith to prove that the beloved Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam is the Intercessor (on the day of judgment)?

Purity is to Allah! Listening to such questions is really shocking – for one to call himself a Muslim and claim to be a follower of the Sunnah whilst being afflicted by the disease of doubting such clear matters of faith – this is yet another sign that Doomsday is nigh!

Every individual of the Ahl as-Sunnah; man, woman and child – even illiterate villagers – know the basic beliefs: the Vision of Allah, and the shafa'a of the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam which are upon the tongues of every child. At this juncture, I will present a few verses of the Glorious Quran that support the belief that the beloved Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam is the Intercessor of the Sinners by the grace of Allah Almighty.

Verse # 1

It is likely your Lord will set you on a place where everyone will praise you. [Surah Bani Israel 17:79]

It is reported in Hadith that the Holy Prophet, the Intercessor of the sinners, was asked,

"What is the Maqam Mahmoud (Place of Praise)?" He said, "That is Intercession." [Tirmidhi, Abwab Tafsir Surah Bani Israel, Amin Co. Dehli, Vol. 2, Page 142]

Verse # 2

And indeed your Lord will soon give you so much that you will be pleased. [Surah Al Duha 93:5]

Daylimi has reported from Hadrat Mawla Ali, the Commander of the Faithful, that when this verse was revealed, the Intercessor of the sinners said,

"When Allah, the Supreme, has promised that he will make me pleased, I shall not be pleased even if just one of my followers remains in Hell." [Tafseer al Kabeer, Vol. 31, Page 213] (O Allah – Blessings & peace and abundance be upon him).

Tabarani in Ma'jam Awsat and Bazzaaz in Musnad narrate from Hadrat Maula Ali that the Intercessor of the sinners says,

"I shall keep on interceding for my Ummah until my Lord will proclaim, "O Muhammad! Are you now satisfied?" I shall say, "O my Lord! Yes I am satisfied." [Allama Suyuti in ad-Dur ul-Manthoor Fi Tafseer al-Mathoor, Vol. 6, Page 361]

Verse # 3

And seek the forgiveness of the sins of your close ones and for the common believing men and women." [Surah Muhammad 47:19]

In this verse, Allah the Supreme, commands his Noble Prophet to seek forgiveness of the sins of the Muslim men and Muslim women from Him – so what else is intercession defined as?

Verse # 4

And if they, when they have wronged their own souls, come humbly to you (O dear Prophet Muhammad - peace and blessings be upon him) and seek forgiveness from Allah, and the Noble Messenger intercedes for them, they will certainly find Allah as the Most Acceptor Of Repentance, the Most Merciful. [Surah Nisa'a 4:64]

In this verse, Allah the Supreme, commands the Muslims that having sinned, they should humbly come to the august court of the Noble Prophet and plead him to intercede – so when the beloved intercedes, He will surely forgive them!!

Verse # 5

And when it is said to them, "Come! Allah's Noble Messenger may seek forgiveness for you" - they turn their heads away. [Surah Munafiqoon 63:5]

This verse highlights the wretched state of the hypocrites – that they do not seek the intercession of the Holy Prophet – the Intercessor of the sinners. So if they do not seek it now, they will not get it in the hereafter, and those who do not get it then - will never get relief. May Allah benefit us with his intercession in this world and in the hereafter. (Aameen)
